Sumter 2030 is the name of the visioning process to define not only the desired future of the county by 2030, but also define the goals, strategies, actions and priorities to achieve this vision.

Sumter 2030 has specific objectives:

  • Establish a county-wide vision plan towards 2030 incorporating a cross sectional and geographical representation of the County’s stakeholders
  • Create a win-win planning scenario between the County and five Cities
  • Integrate planning and visioning efforts of cities within the County
  • Provide valuable input necessary for preparation of the County’s state mandated Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR) and Comprehensive Plan Update to be completed by the County in future years.

"SUMTER 2030" COUNTYWIDE VISION PLAN

The "Sumter 2030" Countywide Vision Plan is a document, both written and graphic, that synthesizes the vision for Sumter County in 2030. The document is intended to be the compilation of the ideas from participants in the visioning process. The Countywide Vision Plan will be completed in April 2008.

The main elements of the "Sumter 2030" Countywide Vision Plan are:

  • Sumter County’s Profile; outlines what our community is today, and where it is heading under current conditions.
  • County’s vision statement ; provides a compelling and inspiring image of a desired and possible future that County residents seek to achieve. The vision statement is usually expressed in one or two paragraphs.
  • Quality of growth/Sustainable strategy; outlines the main strategies and actions to accomplish the County’s established vision.

The Countywide Vision Plan does not substitute but complements land use planning in the County.

This tool allows residents and stakeholders who were unable to participate in the Community Visioning Sessions to provide their input. The online survey will be available to be completed until May 24th.
