The success of any
visioning process relies on wide and diverse public participation of community residents and
others interested in the future of Sumter County in the analysis and definition of strategies
for the future of the county. This is a county-wide visioning process and is open to anyone with
an interest in the future of the county.
Recognizing this need, the County has established formal citizen participation opportunities
targeted to cover a geographical and cross-sectional spectrum of the community. These opportunities
are the Online Survey and the Community Visioning Sessions.
As a county resident or person with an interest in the future of Sumter County, you are encouraged
to make use of these opportunities to have your ideas integrated into the Countywide Vision Plan.
ONLINE SURVEY
The online survey is a tool that allows people who are unable to participate in the Community
Visioning Sessions to provide their input into the process. The survey is designed to gather your
thoughts about important issues in your community such as:
- Demographics;
- Preserving, creating and changing Sumter;
- Natural environment and parks;
- Development patterns and growth;
- Community character;
- Infrastructure (roadways, utilities, etc..)
- Affordable/workforce housing;
- Economy; and
- Community services.
Please complete each question of the survey. Only surveys with each question answered will be counted.
The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
We appreciate your time and commitment to make Sumter County a better place to live, work and play.

COMMUNITY VISIONING SESSIONS
Community Visioning Sessions are public forums designed to gather ideas from a variety of
stakeholders in the community to make Sumter County a better place to live, work and play in the
future.
Sessions will be facilitated using a variety of individual and group exercises that will provide the
necessary input to draw a future vision for the County. Results for each session will be shared
with participants during the session through the use of an electronic audience response system.
The Community Visioning Sessions were completed. If you would like to see the preliminary
results of the Community Visioning Sessions please go to the documents and media sections of the Web page.
